Three riots, three different places and times. Demands for peace, opportunity, fairness, respect, resources, and freedom of speech are universal echoes that transcend the settings of these riots. Echoes joined by our voices demanding the same things today.

Mighty immerses herself in the riot settings. She finds solidarity and fosters reflection by taking on the identity of the women in the center of these riots; the women that are archetypes of their time. Presented as event posters, the political commentary doubles as homage to the female figures in mass media and advertisement. Saturated with “her” presence, it’s easier to lose her, and the message, amongst the noise. Who is she really? What is the woman’s role in these organized acts of unrest? How do peaceful protests even escalate into riots? How is the spirit of Civil Disobedience fed or doused in these situations? What is the true cost of a riot?
